Principal's Message
It is an honor to introduce myself as the new principal of Connoquenessing Elementary School and to join this extraordinary school community. I hope that this note finds you enjoying the rejuvenating days of summer and that you and your children are looking forward to beginning a wonderful school year together at the end of August. I share in this school community’s commitment to caring for your children each and every day while providing them a world-class learning environment.
Over the last few weeks, I have been spending a lot of time getting to know the district, the school’s community, and the wonderful staff. A common theme that I continue to hear
is that Connoquenssing Elementary has amazing parent and community support and involvement. I have learned that Connoquenessing is a place where strong connections are made between home and school and that it is also a place where all staff members are committed to helping your child Succeed Every Day! I value these characteristics and am excited to help continue moving Connoquenessing along the path of excellence.
I join you as a seasoned educator and teacher coach. The 2018-2019 school year marks my 19th year in education. I attended Ohio University for my undergraduate work in elementary education and started my career as a 4th grade teacher, and then an 8th grade computer teacher, in Ohio. From there I moved back to Pittsburgh and attended Carnegie Mellon University for my master’s degree in Public Management and Educational Technology Management. Upon graduation I worked in the Fox Chapel Area School District as a technology coach and 5th grade teacher. Six years ago, I accepted a position in the South Butler County School District. During my tenure there, I taught 2nd grade, 3rd grade, Kindergarten literacy intervention, primary intervention, was the MTSS (multi-tiered system of support) Facilitator, and developed and facilitated the Girls on the Run program for the district.
I am looking forward to getting to know all of you and your wonderful child(ren). I believe that one of the most important aspects of my work as Principal of Connoquenessing Elementary is building meaningful relationships with students, families, and teachers as well as with the Connoquenessing community. This being said, it will be very important for me to be in the hallways, classrooms, on the playground, and in the lunchroom getting to know your child(ren) throughout the year. I have found that kids really appreciate a person who genuinely invests in them by listening, by learning alongside, and by being fair and consistent. In addition to building strong relationships with students, families and teachers, it will be particularly important for me to make sure that you and your child feel safe and respected at our school. If you ever have a concern, please do not hesitate to call or email me. I believe open communication is very important in a school and for this reason, I will always encourage you reach out to your child’s teacher, to a member of the office staff, or to me with any questions you may have.
I look forward to meeting you and thank you in advance for welcoming me into this amazing learning community! Let’s keep our kids reading, writing and problem-solving throughout the summer!
Together We Win!
